For it you are going to need 4 cups water, 1 cup shrimp, 5 mushrooms, 1-2 limes, 1 lemon grass, 3 kaffir lime leaves, 2 tablespoon fish sauce, 5 sprigs cilantro, 3 chili peppers, and 1 tablespoon nam prig pow.

Now to prepare this recipe if you want to learn to cook Thai food, you are going to start by boiling the water in a 2 quart pot. Peel and devein the shrimp and then you want to set them aside and cut the lemon grass into small pieces. You want to use the back of your knife to pound the lemon grass a bit because this will help to release the flavor and so you are going to be able to taste it better in the recipe.

Drop the lemon grass in the water, let it boil for about five minutes, put the fish sauce and lime juice of one lime into the bottom of the bowls that you are going to serve soup in and then add the chili pepper and crush it.

Now you want to remove the stems from the kaffir lime leaves and add the leafy part to the pot. You can keep the rest for other recipes if you like but if not you are just going to want to throw the rest out. Now you are going to clean and halve the mushrooms and then turn off the heat. You don’t want to overcook otherwise the whole meal is going to turn out soggy.

Finally to finish it off you scoop and pour into serving bowls and put a side of lime on or grate some of the lime zest for garnish.
